Austin Hill and the No. 02 Young’s Motorsports team started the UNOH 200 in the 22nd position and immediately radioed the crew that the truck was a “ten tight all around the track.” He also made note that the truck seemed to lack power when exiting the turn and on the straightaways. Using both caution periods ending each of the first two segments, crew chief Bruce Cook made major adjustments to Hill’s Ford F150, including trackbar, wedge and air pressure. Continuing to wrestle the truck, Hill battled through heavy lapped traffic, continually changing his racing line to try and alleviate his issue. With the issue worsening and the changes made during the pit stops not helping, Hill battled to a 22nd place finish in Wednesday nights race.

AUSTIN HILL QUOTE:

“We’re really not sure what was going on with our truck during the race. It was just incredibly tight, regardless if I raced on the bottom in the VHT, or all the way against the wall and then there was a feeling of no power as I exited the corners and hit the straightaways. We’ll head back to the shop this week and tear everything down and try and diagnose the phantom issues. I’m ready to get back in the truck at New Hampshire (Motor Speedway) next month.”
